Cemetery Tour

Feb 2012

There are a couple of great photos and a story today in the Columbian newspaper  (Vancouver, WA) http://www.columbian.com/article/20081024/LIVING11/710249996/-1/living  about the tours the Vancouver Heritage Ambassadors are giving this weekend at the Old City Cemetery.

The weather is going to be nice!  No rain but still cool & crisp!  It will be an interesting experience for the people on the tours as they walk through the cemetery by lantern light to learn about the pioneers who are buried here.

There are a couple of other cemeteries in the area (Portland) that give similar tours.  One of them is the Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland.  They offer their tour on Halloween.  I've gone before and enjoyed it.  I may go again this year.

Really hope we don't find any new vandalism this weekend.  The guys from the City of Vancouver have been real busy trying to get the stuff done in the recent weeks repaired before this weekend.  I'm hoping that the newspaper story and the tours will help cut back on some of this type of thing the more people are educated about the people buried there.
